Go to mars and make a colony? With some more thought on the subject, I think that my mind is changed a little bit, that perhaps a man mission to mars could be worthwhile. It would be nice to see the united states work better with China, in the space frontiers. They cannot be our enemy and our science partner at the same time. To make mars an outpost, the effort must be global, truly global in nature and more so even than the international space station is.
I have significant doubts that the united states could do it alone.
I don’t have elon musk excitement about going to mars. I think there are things more exciting on earth. I think there’s more exciting discoveries on earth.
But I think you’re right, that we really would learn a lot. We could learn a lot by doing it. And I think the most we could learn is that we could understand our own biology and ecosystems better. The mysteries of our own biology are significant. There’s four (4) different theories on how a specific part of cell mitosis works! You would think we would know that by now, but we don’t. We are amateurs at our own biology.
