the flame holders were all completely falling apart, and the pan had almost completely falling apart.The drip pan was completely just it had fallen out of the barbecue. So the repair process was repair.The flame holders clean it up and repair or replace the drip pan.
steps
- Use a sheet metal cutter and I cut some metal roofing into the correct size for the drip pan. We’ll see how it works. It may not be strong enough, but I think it’ll work.
- create new flame holders. So for this, I had some sheet metal from a cappuccino machine.Now it wasn’t ideal because it had a plastic coating.And but it was just about the right thickness, and I had pieces that were already about the right width, I just needed to cut them to length. It’s fifteen I think there are fifteen fifteen inches long. The trick to cutting these is you could sit there all day with a hacksaw, or you could get an electric sawzall. With a Metal Blade and get a couple metal blades because you’ll go through them, they get chewed up pretty quick. So get a couple saw blades and get a the biggest vice metal vice. You can find if you look at the one in the picture. The vice is bigger than my whole foot. But you want something really heavy to hold that sheet metal while you cut it with the saws all tool.m
- put everything back together and then, you know, run the run the barbecue at full heat. Meaning run it for full heat with no food in there.Nothing should try to cook off any of the contaminants and the plastic coating from the metal. You don’t want the plastic coating paint stuff getting in your food.But it will get in your food.Anyway, because even if you buy brand new ones, you’ll see their painted. So even if you buy new flame holders, you should do this.Make sure you burn burn them in run.The barbecues, as hot as you can
