i recently, i’ve been able to spend some time with a person who had down syndrome. A few things i’ve noticed. First, some numbers. One in 800 births results in down syndrome. So there are many people with this. More detailed birth results? The average risk of having a child with trisomy 21 is 1/750 live births. Mothers in their early twenties have a risk of 1/1,500 and women over 35 have a risk factor of 1/70, which jumps to 1/25 for women 45 or older.

Nimi, this particular girl knows two (2) languages. I think is pretty impressive. Her main caretaker says she is losing one of the languages, I asked if it was possible Alzheimers disease. As for her dual languages, you cannot know this easily, it’s very difficult to only in certain situations, will she speak one of the languages? languages. And yes, even her family member cannot really force her to just start speaking the other language. But in certain conditions, she will speak the other language just fine.

Today the caretaker told me some peculiars. The girl, or woman, she is 52 years old, she will take her trash out of her room daily. Taking the trash out of of her room, without being told, is impressive to me. She has learned behaviors that she does every day and will not forget them. But they need to be repeated, like all of us. Her room is very organized and shee likes it that way, she will help clean up the table after dinner. In general, she likes order in her life. Don’t we all? She (her name is Nimi) will feed the dogs if told to do so. She will not feed the dogs unless someone directs her to do so.

Even somewhat simple task requires someone to watch her, it depends on the task. The woman, Nimi, will drift off and not finish some tasks. Nimi will constantly, about 15 times a day, as if her cousin is coming over. Her cousin has not visited in several weeks, but every day, Nimi asks about her cousin possibly visiting, and she really wants this and can not be told that this will not happen. So in a hour, she asks again. And more asks, throughout the day. I am a visitor and am not with her often yet she is friendly to me most always. As her caretaker says, Nimi is in her own world. And with explanations, she can often make her own decisions. Nimi appears often to enjoy life, making herself laugh, perhaps enjoying life more so than a normal person.? She will sometimes cry and get upset about her father being gone (her father is deceased). Obviously she knows what it is to be loved and to love, and is mindful of relationships.

i’m sure you’ve seen homeless people talking to themselves right ? This particular down syndrome lady will also start talking to herself , particularly when she is left out of conversation. It just seems something that is part of being human.That we will talk even to ourselves if there’s no other choice.

Nimi the down syndrome adult, she will notice things but she will not make eye contact and focus on them sometimes. For whatever reason, her brain is often completely fine with the blurry peripheral picture. Often only uses peripheral to look at something with her peripheral vision, and that’s enough for her to know what’s going on. And maybe start laughing at a situation, or you know, understand that there is something going on that she needs to move away from or whatever. And she never makes eye contact , in some of those instances. I don’t think this is something trained that she has a trained behavior ; I think this is just the way her mind works. Something about focus, focusing on things for down syndrome people is is a little bit different than everyone else. We want to focus on things. Normal people want to see these things better. But the down syndrome, people don’t seem to always need to do that. Perhaps because it just takes more energy, maybe it’s a little tiresome. I don’t know what it is. For sure there’s mysteries here

story. Science Fiction

A story in progress, March 2029

I had no remorse for the Promethians.  As the Xray blaster toasted a hole into the surprised leader, I watched the screen as the chaos unfolded.  My breathing sped up as I feared they would rush this direction, but it looked like they scattered.  I could only imagine the screams, I was 400 yards away and the sound didn’t carry that far.  I hear the double beep of the xray blaster telling me its seconds away from being ready to fire again.  Now its time for heavy artillery.  One more check of the fire control solution, and yes it looks like many pale green citizens around that triangle building.  They won’t be alive for long.  I flip off the safety and hit the fire button.  Three seconds. . one, two, three, and a bit kmore, then booom.  After the smoke cleared, I see a handful of the men still moving, and about twenty bodies.  I am not sure if the leader is one of the dead.  

My next target, a flying vehicle that appears to be ready for take off.  I aim into the engines, and fire.  The focused xray beam takes about 100 milliseconds to weaken several turbine blades, and puff of smoke belches out the back as the engine catches fire. The spinning rotor blades slowly wobble as the transmission and engine become useless.  A promethian gets out of the ruined vehicle and stares in my direction.  I feel exposed, does he know my position?  He walks to the wing of the plane and unlatches something. . perhaps a missile,  from underneath the wing.   This guy maybe trouble,  I aim the xray gun at him, but it is still recharging the capacitors, I can’t shoot.  He disappears into the forest.  

The events that led up to this day, I reflect upon as I pack my equipment into the combat vehicle.  Such noble and elegant creatures, never thought I would find the need to wage war with these things.  In many ways I just want to go back to mining.  I don’t want to be this contractor, hired gun for killing.  Can’t have a war with just robots, that would be illegal in so many ways.  Have a few of us here killing alongside the robots, and the congress and public will cause no grief.  I dont take orders well, I want to be back with my synthetic and my mining rig. Yet I had my reasons and principles.  

It was what, two years ago?  Stopped me at gunpoint at the refueling depot, said they must inspect my vehicle for invalid biomass.  Soon we were in custody.  They locked me and several of my crewmates in prison, experimenting with us for what reason?  Forced with hypnotic drugs, torturing and experimenting with our minds and bodies like we were lab rats.   The horror of seeing my crewmates go insane,  becoming derealized and depersonalized.  They left me and my brain, why?  They perhaps had other ideas for me?  Too bad for them I escaped.  And the far side prison, they killed forty miners.   Couldn’t negotiate a good price for the metals, so they seized the goods and imprisoned the miners, then wiped them all out when they tried to escape.  The elegant dressed fuckers, never knew they had such mysteries.  Mysteries the likes of which have never been seen in the known universe, only small facts have emerged, from the dark days of the early explorations,  a Promethian begging not to die because it would kill the child.  A lie,  just a lie until finally it all made sense, the hormones they used kept the fetus in a dormant state and not growing, and this Promethian had no hormones, and the child was growing.  And then only years later to discover they have no capability to give birth, that was bred out of the lineage a long time ago.  The only alien species to be found that can not reproduce without technology.  And why such a dark tone during negotiations, like they did not trust us.  At least they did not act like cheerful aliens of Ganda.  The more I get to know them, them more it seems, at times seemed to have no conscience.  Nothing held back when it came to being cruel to another race.  Well we will see, maybe they haven’t dealt with a race that fights back in a few centuries.  Fuck you Promethians. I turn the mech on, and head west.  

I head down a sloping jungle, avoiding the large trees. The mech weaved a slow zig zag down toward the ravine.  My plan was to see if any other prisoners were here, and  possibly steal whatever I could take of value from these lunatics.  Then I would head for the open plains, cross the hundred miles to the big canyon and stay there, make a home there.  Maybe the mining federation would send a recovery team, but it’s possible that I’d be here a while on this planet.  I stopped the mech.  Why not just go now, leave the carnage I have done and be at peace?  Nope.  I will get more revenge until I can leave here with the same money I came in with.  For now, a bit of sleep.  I set the auto-gun alarm and engaged the CIWS into Air Ready mode.  Just ten minutes?

  I awake after 20 minutes, I pulled up my binoculars, unlatched myself from the mech and scanned the jungle.  The air was getting heavy and darkness would be here in two hours, I thought.  Only in thermal mode could I see anything past the fog in the jungle, and what appeared to be an angular building or wall was to the left of us, about 200 yards.  

The building appears deserted, ornamented with curved designs near the tall door.  I walk closer, holding my pistol.  The door looks like it would be easy to open, but I am hesitant.  I try to figure out a way to get on the roof. . .I don’t see a way unless I get the mech to lift me up.  I see a small foot path leading to the north.  I investigated it first, it appears not to have been used for some time.  Possible Promethian footprints but also some other smaller footprints, humans?  The footpath has a junction, probably one path going back to the camp I just blew up and another path up the ravine.  I walk up the ravine.  I hear noises ahead, coming through the jungle slowly I see a clearing, and rows of small plants.  I send a drone around to the west, with intention to photograph the entire field for movements.  Drone shows possible autotroph over the hill.  It takes me a bit and I start to crawl at the hills apex.  A few more crawling steps and I see a Promethian, sitting on a tractor as it plows the field!  Wow these guys actually work.  I thought they were too dignified for field work. 

  I decide to take the Promethian hostage.  I have heard they hold family dearly, we will see.   I aim my pistol at him. . .I could drop him dead for sure if the tractor stopped.  I move through the trees and approach the side of the tractor.  I hope this one is alone.

“Stop right there.”, I said, pointing the gun at the farmer.

The tractor stops, the alien looks at me with a tilted head and I see his lips pinch,  as if he wanted to say something but he arrested his expletive. Obviously shocked to see a human, he is.

“Get off the tractor, go that way!” I say, waving the pistol in the direction of the building.  

The dumb farmer looked too innocent to die, not yet anyway.  I walk behind the tall alien and occasionally I notice the odd gait of his legs.  I remember that these things can run, so I set my pistol to stun.  He runs, he won’t be dead, he will be shocked.  I hate bleeding prisoners.   

“Sit down.  I have some questions for you.”

The alien doesn’t understand English.  He has some odd, slow mannerisms.  My translator,  I left it in the mobility module.  I cant tell if the prisoner can hear em or not.  He just keeps nodding his head when I ask a question.

3) Creating fictional versions of real-life human ethnic groups, that never go beyond one dimension

5) Inventing a history that is totally logical

6) Not really giving a strong sense of place, like what it smells like after it’s been raining.

7) Introducing some superpower, like magic or insane tech, without fully accounting for how it would change society.

democracy kills communism

America is headed for the version 2.0 of communism. In Russia, communism of the 60’s, people barely had enough to survive. Almost all of the government workers shared the same threat, can I grow my family and feed them? Only the very top, leaders at the communism ladders seemed to have a great life. You worked your farm and gave a good percentage of your crops to the government. The crops you had left? Barely enough to survive the winter, much less sell for a profit.

American communism 2.o is similar, in 2026 we have almost all of the government workers sharing the same threat, can I grow my family and feed them? Taxes have become much like Russia’s socialism variety packs, including communism, stripping most of your profit before you can spend it. Only the top invisible leaders of companies and government seem to have the easy life. All hope is not lost! Easy credit for most consumers gives us a temporary relief as we nap into the next year of mounting credit card bills. Communists in Russia never knew the power of easy credit. Yet the credit is a muse and the local county will auction your house in the summer, no questions asked. For your lack of bill paying, your home is sold and the packing takes place as you and your family go to live in a RV trailer.

And what is happening now? Grassroots communism groups are growing in America. This is not a far threat. It is happening here in local community colleges. Communism is at a comeback.

What are our leaders doing to solve this? I’m not sure.

WE need to attack it in a variety of ways. The deep and passionate goal of the Communists of 2026? Greed and Billionaires. Communists today point to greed of special interest groups, billionaire statesman and billionaire commercial titans, these are the actors of todays cruel world, say the communists.

I don’t know the answer, but I know this. Actions by the USA that appear and are if fact often not democracy, these things fuel the fire of communism. Any non democratic war, burden, coalition or cost, it will go as win for the communists. One good answer? Democracy kills communism. pure democracy is needed. The empires and kingdoms equate to = jealousy, the poor are jealous and despise the kingdom rulers. Indeed, kingdoms and greed, that hatred for these is what is giving fuel to communism. Democracy is the answer!

In the kingdom of the United State of 2026, it appears a growing list of elite rulers, elite businessmen run the kingdom. Everyone else? It’s like a reality TV show called SURVIVE 2026. Each to his own, trying to survive. This is the way. Or is this really the way?

In America Communism 2.0, we see a government White House decorated in gold, fancy decorations by a billionaire business man who became president. What is new here? In the 60’s our government would at least put forth the effort that they are “for the people”, not for themselves. The white house wasn’t covered in gold. Today there is no such effort, just an assault on the average worker, by not acknowledging their service, and a stream of doublespeak.

For the United States, a group of states, a democracy, for us as a union of states, we must enforce democracy and the rule of law. The more powerful the king, the stronger communism is in America. We must fight for our democracy before it is too late.

Iran war 2026 and commercial air

We are in a war with Iran, and air traffic is still going on right near the Iran border. I am glad that I am no on this flight 230 from Seatle to Dubai. No thanks, I do no want to fly right next to a war zone. Did they even do any flight changes to these flights? Do they not know, there is a war going on? Amazing and surprised our Airlines pay little attention to a war zone. A bit of history and you will find many airlines destroyed flying into or near war zones. Its 10:30am PST in California, on a Saturday, and I see on flightaware.com these flights going right over the Persian gulf, right next to Iran. Irresponsible airlines, putting lives at risk!! Companies have to make money right?? Did they tell the passengers or have them sign a agreement acknowledging the increased risk? I doubt it. Business as usual.

Double surprise hike

The first surprise was when I went outside at 6:00 and noticed it was slightly warmer outside than it was in the house. I keep the house pretty cold but still I was like hey this is nice out here and I thought I should maybe just go hike right now. The next surprise happened about 20 feet later when I looked up and I saw a good amount of stars were visible. It doesn’t happen that often out here near the city where I live that you could see a lot of stars. I mean it wasn’t great it wasn’t great but I could see one of the little dippers or the big dippers and some other constellation parts and I was like hey let’s go so I started my hike That was the two surprises before I even really started the hike.

So there was enough light to see and enough light from the street lamps that I have plenty of light so I started my hike as I went up the second hill and I took inventory of what I had. I I had $14 which was good at least I had some money But I also had no phone no wallet nothing else But I decided that’s fine at least I had money I have some money for water or a snack once I even if I turn it into a far far far far reaching hike which which who knows $14 should be good for a half day hike. I passed the new houses up on Lauren Street and I was surprised at how many had almost all their lights on at that time in the morning a few more hills and I could see the three sisters. At that time I decided I would go hike to one of the three sisters One of the sisters is called Flat Top the highest hill in this part of the town there’s two other hills that’s why they call it the Three Sisters I believe flat Top has been artificially made flat by somebody somebody went up there with a tractor and made it completely flat is my belief. sound of dogs barking was was pretty good As I walk through this area everyone’s got dogs because they’re afraid Afraid you know being they live kind of Indiana a rural area so they figure if they have dogs they will they will be safe I started the first hill up to the three sisters. This was a pretty good incline probably 30 degree 30 degree climb and right about then I started to really sweat and I thought OK let’s take my shirt off here in a pretty bit. But then up in the hills here a chill came over me from the microclimate hidden in these little valleys and the hills and so I didn’t have to take my shirt off felt like suddenly it turned like 40 degrees which was nice I finished up the hill and headed towards the S of the Three Sisters or no let’s say the E SE of the Three Sisters Got to the got to the top with some hill climbing and crouching. I slowed down my pace and kind of walked in circles waiting for the sun to come up.

Finally the sun peeked up and ready or not the world awoke. I could see my shadow far across the hills. At that moment for some reason I just felt emotional. I just thought you know look I’m making a little imprint on the world There’s my shad A little imprint that I’m making. Sometimes you don’t feel like you’re making much of a difference in the world whether it’s your friends or your family or your kids or your peers. but there was there was my shadow and I am and I exist And just like everyone else I made my little impact so be positive get your head out of your **** and **** **** with this hike. With that I started down the hill. Far E there’s a mountain range I don’t know what exactly it’s called but it was completely lit up by the sunrise picture perfect. It made it worth hurrying up and seeing the sunrise at the top of the hill.

So I’m 55 years old I think I do pretty good and I hike pretty good but I do have some limits that I that I’m nearing as my body ages. I’m not too happy about it but it happens. Sometimes when I go on these hikes I think when I’m going to get when I get back am I going to be able to walk without I think I’m going to end up spraining or pulling some tendon that has been abused long ago in my youth. But you know if I don’t go on these hikes it’s going It’s going to be more pain I know that if I don’t keep myself in shape and keep myself somewhere near my optimum 30 year old body mass index then I’m in for more pain. I walk with combat boots which give me ankle support and prevent ankles ankle pain during and after the hike I’m able to walk fast and run slowly with the combat boots and through some housing tracks a runner passes me. He motivates me and I take some deep breaths and run for a while period. This is the Lost Angel brand vaporizer The model is sphere 35K and the exact flavor is sour apple ice. This is the empty vaporizer I found on the side of the road This one has a LED display and it has a USB USB I think they call it USB dash C charging port. It is non refillable that I see Of course the people who sell these want you to just buy more and more of them It is designed to be throwaway but yet cannot be thrown away because it has a lithium ion battery. Further in the hike I’ll find another one similar with a proprietary charging port and less graphics and. I see these and I see empty cigarette cartoons. I pick up a woman’s eyelash curve curving device I don’t keep it I leave it somewhere I’m a little farther into the hills but still on a road where people drive and I take my shirt off as the sun comes up. I notice when my shirt is off a few people honk at me that don’t honk at me otherwise. I don’t know what their message is maybe it’s they’re attracted to my muscular body which is not all that muscular Or maybe they think I shouldn’t walk around with the shirt off my shirt off. Who knows I remember 20 years ago I did that and someone did actually yell out the window at me and told me to put my shirt back on So I think sometimes they’re honking because they don’t want they want to try to tell me that they really don’t want to see my body. I mean come on really I mean what’s the big deal I’m not that unattractive. I mean I whatever just real seriously just whatever.

I’m near Lake Matthews now probably on mile 5 and I’m passing the nature preserve. I see a gate that locked but never opened My my guess anyway because their lock is so rusty that looks like no one’s touched it in years. On this very street right here which is Cajalco Road many many years ago me and my kids witnessed a bunch of frogs running across the road to the S many of them being hit by cars a lot of them were very small frogs We got out of our car and helped them across the road the ones we could help I’m not sure why they were trying to cross the road but it was just a mass migration of frogs trying to go across that road. I’m hoping there are still frogs there and they still do that although every year that road becomes more and more busy It would be nice if they had to help the frogs cross the road.

I come to an end of the trail or an end that I think is a good place to turn around and go back on my loop of the hike going back home If I were to continue forward on this street Cahalco Road I would I would come to a place where you are near Lake Matthews I think it was only two and a half years ago now that I was riding my bicycle there I pulled my bicycle off into the weeds went over to the fence between Lake Matthews found a big hole in the fence I walked into it through the fence left my bike there. then I walked towards Lake Matthews jumped in the water and swam around. Now somewhere in the rule books in the US code and in the federal law that is illegal and I know it is and I don’t care. I didn’t hurt anybody and no one hurt me I didn’t pee in the lake and I didn’t poop in the lake. Lake Matthews is a drinking reservoir so they don’t want people going in there and fishing or doing anything but many times of the year you’ll see if not hundreds thousands of different types of birds sitting in the lake taking a **** so the water gets lots of **** and pee anyway. So II think they should allow some limited human activity if you ask me II don’t I don’t get why you can’t make the leg completely why you have to have the lake completely fenced off.

I’m heading home now and I’m can smell the alfalf at the Lake Matthews feed store. I don’t know exactly what the alfalfa smell is but it’s nice. I paused for half a minute and take a good good couple sniffs then a few more 100 feet to Lake Matthews General Store where I go in and take a look at their breakfast items. Coffee here is only caffeinated and in a big $2 cup so I pass on that. I could not pass the egg and sausage burrito for $4.65 made here in the store I think. The Burrito cannot escape me I buy it and a big apple knowing that I should have bought water I continue anyway thinking I think I could do it without water which is I don’t know why think like that I have money in my pocket just by the water. So I go a couple miles E I pass a guy on the side of the road in a car. He acknowledges me and then after I walked a couple hundred feet past him he gets out of the car and offers me water. The bottle he gives me has a has no top and looks like he may have drank some of it but I take it anyway and I drink it anyway. The side of the road is great for walking or running but not bad either Further down I smell the pine trees from the pine tree farm and also some neighbors who have lots of pine trees But in my hurry I don’t stop and smell the roses or smell the pine for this occasion. On the S end of Wood Road I’m surprised that the store is now open and so I go in and get a drink of water in a small decaffeinated coffee. Why little stores like this can’t have at least one set of benches outside is beyond me. If I was the owner of this company I would I would put a little bench and then I’d also promote the store as a place that you could stop and get a drink of water while you’re on a hike and try to promote physical fitness that way. You make one of those benches where it’s difficult to sleep on but at least it’s something to sit on Yes you’re going to have some homeless people sit there for a few hours but who gives a **** while somebody gives a **** because that’s not what they like to do they don’t like to put any benches. Where I live sometimes in Mojave there is a gas station that has three nice big picnic tables in front of their gas station. Completely awesome Gas station. I need to promote that gas station more make sure they get as much business as possible I love those guys. It’s off the 58 and it’s easy something gas station. It’s West of the Loves Truck stop and it is a full on truck stop so you’ll see a bunch of diesel trucks there. They have showers for 15 or is it $12 I think it’s $12 and they’re pretty good pretty good showers now the Loves Truck Stop has better showers for $20. But I really really couldn’t decide which one I would choose if they were right next to each other. The stingy person in me would go with the $12 hour Someone called me stingy the other day too I was like what i’m not stingy I guess I am stingy. Ah but the the calm relaxing side of Maine would go for the $20 shower at Love’s truck stop which has a way better blast of hot water. If you’re reading this and you’re a young person take note of this. Take note of that RV truck stops have showers you could pay for because if you’re traveling and you’re with someone that you like to get intimate with it’s a pretty good bang for the buck and I’m talking Bang Bang for the buck. Meaning you could get intimate with your partner in the RV shower and they don’t time you you could be in there two hours and have a great little time get all cleaned up and then hit the road again. All my body function still works that may I may part I may enjoy that activity too But I’m just saying if you’re young and with a you should really stop and pay the $20.

So I start heading home and now I only have about two miles left up wood road. My step counter shows about 18,000 steps on the hike. I’d about 20 minutes before I had ate some eggs and sausage and fruit and anyway I think blood flow to my stomach was causing me to be a little less energetic. So I Yeah so around that point I kind of started really getting low on energy a little bit not faint but just just completely exhausted to where I really didn’t want to walk at all. So I took a small break right there like just a few minutes drink more water Then I kept heading about an hour later not even an hour like 30 minutes later umm I only have like a mile left at this point my foot really starts hurting. I mean II it just hurts really bad like so I have to stop and take a break and sit down SI sat down took my shoes off you know 10 minutes later I was good to go kept you know headed home from there to home they’re doing construction and there were construction crews and you have the guys that hold up the signs that just have their boring job of directing traffic right? So I talked to these guys that are just directing traffic and there’s really no traffic they’re doing nothing so they’re bored so why not talk to them so anyway I chit chatted with two different people just chit chatted about things It’s it’s it’s a bit like having a person you’re talking to who’s trapped right they they can do anything it’s like they’re kind of forced to sit there and listen to you because II don’t know there’s a there’s a word for that. There’s a saying basically describing a person you’re having a conversation with kind of has no choice in the matter except listen or be really rude and ignore And no one wants to be really rude so they just kind of listen and chat right So anyway that was my social part of my hike. I talked to those two guys And you know I’m always trying to improve things so I’m just sitting here thinking how could I have had a better conversation with those guys? I think next time I should ask them like you know how they’re doing like how do you like this job you know I mean if they’re stuck there and they’re listening to me it might be better if they’re talking about their own problems so I should ask them. I don’t know what do you think? I believe you could leave comments in this if you want so you could leave some comments on what you think I should do or shouldn’t do. other than that this work is copyrighted and and I just have to put that message in there so that the robots do not copy this text and use it for their profit and gain.
